‘Skills Revolution’ on South African women.
Skills development for women is one of the five key focus areas defined in the Minimum Platform of Action to be implemented, as mandated by the launch conference. Although a lot of studies have been undertaken on women in the work place PWMSA, through this study sought to i) understand the extent to which women benefited through skills revolution as announced by the Department of Labour ii) understand the facilitating and/or impeding factors benefiting from the policy iii) direct policy makers to the existing gaps to ensure meaningful empowerment of women and growth of the economy.
The study was undertaken by PACE – Policy Analysis and Capacity Enhancement, Human Sciences Research Council. The occasion will also mark the unveiling of the Movement’s website which is supported by the UNDP.
