CONSULTANT TO DEVELOP TRAINING MODULES, ORGANISE AND FACILITATE TRAINING WORKSHOPS AIMED AT STRENGTHENING EFFECTIVE LAW ENFORCEMENT RESPONSES TO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN THE SOUTHERN AFRICAN REGION
Background and introduction
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), by virtue of Resolution 2006/29 of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), is mandated to integrate the elimination of violence against women and children into its training and technical assistance efforts and to develop tools and training manuals with a gender perspective on criminal justice reform. In this regard, UNODC, in partnership with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat and the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO), is implementing a regional project entitled: "Development of Effective Law Enforcement Responses to Violence against Women in the Southern African Region" (XAS/T17), assisting SADC Member States in this regard.
One of the core activities of this project is the development and implementation of an intensive training and capacity initiative to promote effective police responses to violence against women in the region and specifically in Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe as pilot countries within the SADC region.
UNODC therefore seeks to obtain the services of a consultant who can develop relevant interactive training modules and material and assist with the presentation of a regional and various national training workshops based on the developed training module.
